Monica is a wife, mother of five, and an educator and coach at heart, her journey has been one of endless curiosity and an unwavering love for learning. Monica is seasoned mariner in the vast oceans of education and literature. Anchored with a master’s degree in education and a minor in literary studies, her academic journey has been one of relentless exploration, driven by the winds of curiosity and a deep passion for the transformative power of books.
For over a decade, she has dedicated herself to the world of education, teaching language arts and history to junior high students. In the classroom, she was passionate and creative in transforming traditional lessons into immersive experiences that encouraged her students to think critically, explore deeply, and connect personally with the curriculum.
Beyond the classroom, Monica took the helm as a coach in both soccer and basketball. Teaching not just the mechanics of the game, but learning the tides of teamwork, perseverance, resilience, lessons in losing and the joy of shared victory.
Her path has always been intertwined with the spirit of adventure. From the soccer fields of her youth to the collegiate pitches, she honed her skills and passion for teamwork, found camaraderie and connection in every game. Her freshman year of college took her abroad to the cobblestone streets of Europe, where her team trained for preseason. There, the world unfolded before her in vibrant colors and rich cultures, forever deepening her appreciation for the diverse tapestry of human experience.
Inspired by her passion for literature and her adventurous spirit, Monica embarked on a new voyage, founding Charter Book Club Adventures, LLC. She envisioned Charter Book Club Adventures as a sturdy vessel, sailing readers across vast literary seas, exploring new horizons of community, connection and transformation. Monica is dedicated to creating space where others feel heard, seen, supported, valued, and inspired to embark on their own unique journeys. Through this venture, she sought to create not just a book club, but a fleet of readers, each member charting their course through diverse perspectives, engaging with inspiring voices, and embarking on adventures of intellectual, emotional, and personal discovery.
